Collaborate is identified as the 2nd highest rated member resource for ASAE members. To ensure this community continues to support our membership, ASAE is piloting a new virtual Collaborate ambassadors program. The goal of this groups is to actively post and respond in communities, highlight features of the platform, support other ASAE initiatives within Collaborate, support the Collaborate Rules and Etiquette, and provide feedback around the work of the ambassadors program.
This is a 100% accept opportunity, please ensure you read everything on this page before applying to ensure this opportunity is right for you. This opportunity will close once we have 30 interested volunteers.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be a member of at least one community in Collaborate. Being a member of more than one community is preferred.
- Enjoy reading the discussion posts from Collaborate multiple times a week
- Comfortable posting discussions posts and replies in Collaborate or a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to join new communities and actively participate in them.
- Comfortable utilizing all the features of Collaborate or a willingness to learn.
- Have read, in its entirety, the Collaborate Rules and Etiquette and Community Violation Policy.
Meeting Commitment:
Please note, all meetings will be recorded, the orientation is the only meeting ambassadors are required to attend live. For the other meetings listed below, volunteers will have the ability to give agenda feedback prior to the meeting and view the recording post meeting.
- One virtual orientation meeting- Wednesday, March 9 12:00-12:30 ET (Required to attend live)
- One virtual feedback meeting at the end of the term Friday, July 15, 12:00-12:30 ET
- Quick ambassador support meetings 30 minutes max- Wednesday, April 13 and Wednesday June 1 both 12:00-12:30 ET. If identified during the term, there may be more quick support meetings added.
Other Requirements:
- All ambassadors are placed in a private ambassadors community in Collaborate. This is where all ASAE staff and volunteer communications will take place.
Ambassador time and work commitment:
Estimated time commitment: 3-3.5 hours over 4 months
- Participate in the Virtual Orientation Call (30 minutes)
- Attend or review Ambassador meetings (90 minutes)
- Ambassadors must commit to starting a discussion at a minimum of 1 time a month in one of ASAE identified groups. (15-20 minutes per month)
- Actively reply to posts that have no replies, ASAE staff will identify them weekly and ambassadors are asked to reply to at least 1-2 per month and encouraged to post whenever they can. (15-45 minute per month)
- If appropriate, learn about and utilize underutilized Collaborate features. ASAE staff will post videos and how-to instructions for the ambassadors and in turn those ambassadors will use them as they post and reply within the greater Collaborate community ( up to 5-10 minutes of learning)
- Support ASAE staff if needed in Rules and Etiquette violations. ASAE staff will reach out with specific asks and clear instructions if and when this is needed. Time commitments on this will be identified at the time of need.
- Ambassadors feedback- can be given throughout the term but specifically during the final call (30 minutes)

- ASAE provided Ambassadors badge for your Collaborate profile. This will automatically be put on your profile after the virtual orientation and stay up for 1 year.
- When appropriate to the work, access to Collaborate community data to ensure our work meets the needs of the community.
