Association Insights in Old Town

“Association Insights”—a New Event in Old Town—is a monthly gathering of the association community, by the association community, for the association community. Join our group for professional development and professional networking. We will maintain focus on our primary audience of association management professionals by ensuring that most all program topics are included among the subject matter listed in ASAE’s CAE Exam Content Outline and that most all program speakers are directly involved in the association community. Our 2020 events will be on the first Wednesday of the month. All events to consist of education from noon to 1pm and (optional) networking until 1:30pm in the main conference room at Marketing General Incorporated (MGI) in Old Town Alexandria Virginia. Earn 1 CAE credit for attending any #AssociationInsightsInOldTown session.

Our February 5th event—“Why Strategy and Foresight Are Not the Same Thing”—will feature Jeff De Cagna, FRSA, FASAE. [FREE REGISTRATION HERE: https://bit.ly/36GcVOL.] Associations need both strategy and foresight, and while these two types of essential learning are clearly connected, they are not the same thing. Unfortunately, most boards of directors and chief staff executives conflate strategy and foresight in ways that can be counterproductive for their organizations and stakeholders. In this century's third decade—the very challenging Turbulent Twenties—it is critical for association decision-makers to develop a clearer understanding of both strategy and foresight, how they are related, how they are different and how to maximize the benefit of both. De Cagna is executive advisor for Foresight First LLC, is an association contrarian, foresight practitioner, governing designer, stakeholder advocate, and stewardship catalyst. In recognition of his work on behalf of ASAE and the association community, Jeff became the 32nd recipient of ASAE’s Academy of Leaders Award, the association’s highest individual honor for consultants or industry partners, in August 2019.
