All,

Do any of you use a tool to extract title and author information during abstract submission process ?

We have received customer complaints about manually adding co-authors when submitting abstracts.

Looking to see if anyone has had success extracting title and author information from abstracts at the point of submission instead of having the submitter manually enter them.

I started doing some research and available tools stretch from completely open source to proprietary and everything in between.

So, getting feedback on a tool an association has used will be very helpful.

Hi Srikrishnan,

How would it ideally work for you? I can imagine a solution where the submitter would provide an external link (say to a publication) and the system would automatically extract the author information and create authors and map their information.

In any case, the author would need to manually verify the information.

I noticed some event organizers ask for way to many information to submitters that don't end up being used. What do you ask to submitters for each author?

I also noticed that a problem for authors is that they're not always sure where to find the author information which is what is the most time consuming, not manually entering the data itself.
