Description:

Charge:
The committee is a comprised of volunteer leaders who support the work of the ASAE Foundation by creating awareness of the Foundation’s value and assisting with the identification and securing of financial resources within the association community.  This is a fundraising group.  

Time Commitment:
This group requires one* face to face meeting each year.

  • The first conference call will be held in December as a virtual orientation (mandatory for new members). 
  • In January a face-to-face meeting will be held in Washington, DC at the ASAE Headquarters.
  • Committee members are requested, but not required, to attend a meeting at ASAE's Annual Meeting in Chicago IL August 18-21, 2018.

2018 Committee Work:
  • Evaluating the value proposition used to secure donations;
  • Informing the creation of new fundraising opportunities and the messaging utilized to promote them;
  • Collaborating with the Research Committee as needed for current and future project planning;
  • Assisting the Vice President, Development by leveraging professional relationships and affiliations to directly solicit donations from individuals, organizations and for-profit companies;
  • Speaking on behalf of the ASAE Foundation using staff prepared talking points at face-to-face meetings when feasible;
  • Soliciting current and past donors using by personalizing and disseminating ASAE Foundation communications tools prepared for committee members;
  • Supporting the ASAE Foundation through participation in fundraising events such as: The Classic, golf tournaments, Five Star Weekend, The Pour and other events, that exist now or will be created in the future, to benefit the foundation.

Committee Member Responsibilities:
  1. Attends all meetings (in person, conference call, and virtual), generally including ASAE’s Annual Meeting in August (Chicago 8/18-821, 2017) and a face-to-face meeting in January; Notifies the primary staff liaison whenever there is a scheduling conflict.
  2. Solicits donations from individuals, organizations and for-profit companies.
  3. Reviews all relevant material prior to meetings. Prepares to make contributions and voice objective opinions concerning issues and activities.
  4. Actively participates on a subcommittee(s) and/or task force(s) as necessary.
  5. Accepts and completes special assignments as requested.
  6. Promotes volunteer involvement by maintaining an understanding of activities, discussions, and programs.
  7. Promotes ASAE and the ASAE Foundation and the group by supporting and participating in membership recruitment/retention activities.
  8. Responds promptly to correspondence and information requests from the staff liaison and other group members.
  9. Represents the group in other meetings of ASAE as requested.
  10. Promotes clarity within the group on their role and how it supports and fits within ASAE.
  11. Maintains current membership in ASAE during the volunteer term.
  12. Immediately informs the staff liaison and chair of the group if personal or professional circumstances change to the extent that they cause disruption in the ability to perform the above-listed responsibilities.
