The Small Staff Association Committee (SSAC) advocates for associations with 9 or fewer staff (regardless of budget size). The SSAC:

  • Recommends and advises ASAE on ways to improve programs and services for small-staff association members;
  • Advises ASAE University staff on the content of the annual Online Conference for Small-Staff Associations, actively helps promote, and ideally participates in the Conference;
  • Advises on “best practices” for small-staff associations through a variety of online documents and ASAE communication vehicles (e.g. Associations Now, models & samples library, Collaborate, etc.);
  • Serves as the advocate for implementing key ASAE strategic goals designated for the small-staff association community, including promoting the small-staff organization membership;
Considers ways to increase a sense of community among small-staff organization executives via social media, Collaborate, and other means.

Meeting Info (date, time & location):

This group requires two face-to-face meetings each year with the first of these held at the ASAE Annual Meeting the afternoon of Saturday, August 12, 2017, and the second in-person meeting traditionally held at ASAE headquarters in March.  In person attendance is mandatory for new volunteers. Other work is accomplished via regular teleconferences and email.  This committee is comprised of strategic thinkers and individuals who like to “get things done.”

  • New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s kickoff meeting in order to serve. There is no virtual option for this meeting.
  • Council members (or their organizations)pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings.   ASAE does not reimburse Board, Committee, or Council members for travel.
  • Members can only serve 1 (one) volunteer group (council or committee) at a time.
