The Membership Professionals Advisory Council (MPAC) fosters ASAE’s professional interest community dedicated to association membership professionals. MPAC's primary objective is to enrich this community through a multi-layered approach incorporating resource development, educational program feedback, and community cultivation. Key initiatives undertaken by MPAC include:
- Crafting valuable resources tailored to the needs of association membership professionals.
-Participating in the Call to Proposals opportunities for integration into ASAE's signature conferences, thus enriching the attendee experience and addressing pertinent industry challenges.
- Curating Membership Tool Kit resources to equip professionals with the tools and knowledge necessary for success in their roles.
- Collaborating with ASAE's digital division to publish informative articles aimed at sharing effective practices and insights within the membership management realm.
- Organizing and hosting Membership Monday's Discussion Series, offering members access to expert-led discussions and learning opportunities on relevant topics.
Through these initiatives, MPAC actions elevate the professionalism and effectiveness of association membership professionals while cultivating a vibrant and supportive community within ASAE's membership landscape.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Current position serving in a membership role, overseeing membership functions in an association, or consulting to associations on membership initiatives.
• Five or more years of professional membership experience preferred, with a minimum of one year serving in a membership role with or for an association.
• Broad membership expertise or deep expertise in a specific membership area (e.g., recruitment, retention, chapter relations) that would serve as a foundation for surfacing useful content and engagement for members of the broader Membership Community.
• Knowledge of membership issues faced by associations and professionals working in associations.
Eligibility Requirements:
4 - 6 Years Industry Experience
• Virtual Orientation Meeting- July 2025, exact date. TBD Orientation meeting is mandatory for new volunteers.
• Virtual Kick-off Meeting- July 2025
• Optional in-person volunteer breakfast and meeting at ASAE Annual Meeting Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Los Angeles, CA. (This is not required for service.)
• A mid-year meeting is held Winter 2026. Currently, this meeting is being planned as a hybrid meeting.
• Full committee conference calls are scheduled bimonthly.
• Committee members should also expect to meet with their subcommittee virtually to complete work on an as needed basis.
The Membership Council Professionals Advisory Council is looking for 5 new members for the 2025-2026 term which means not all applicants will be accepted for this committee. The selection committee is comprised of the incoming volunteer chair, the incoming volunteer vice chair, the outgoing volunteer chair, and the ASAE executive staff liaison. The ASAE staff liaison plays a supporting role in this process.

New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s kickoff meeting in order to serve. ASAE does not reimburse Committee, or Council members for travel. Members can only serve 1 (one) volunteer group (council or committee) at a time. In principle and in practice, ASAE values and seeks diversity and inclusive practices within the association management industry.
