Description:

The Technology Professional Advisory Council (TPAC) acts as an advisory body to ASAE, providing strategic counsel regarding technology-related matters. The council contributes to the publication of Associations Now, identifies and analyzes critical trends within the technology sector, and delivers presentations at major conferences, including the ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition and Marketing, Membership & Communications + Tech Conferences (MMC+Tech). The council also maintains and moderates technology-focused discussions within the Technology Professionals Community on Collaborate, thereby fostering a sense of community among association information technology professionals and advocates. This is a one-year commitment. 
 
Requirements: Volunteers on the Technology Professional Advisory Council (TPAC) are expected to actively participate in various meetings throughout the year to facilitate council work and discuss the needs of the association technology community. 

  • Orientation and Kickoff Mandatory Meetings:  

  • Virtual orientation and kickoff meetings in July. 

  • Dates and times to be determined. 

  • ASAE Annual Meeting 

  • TPAC will meet on Saturday, August 9 during the ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition in Los Angeles, CA. 

  • Time to be determined. 

  • Monthly Virtual Meetings: 

  • Virtual meetings on the third Thursday of each month. 

  • Time: 3PM Eastern Time. Typically 60 minutes each. 

  • Hybrid Mid-Year Meeting: 

  • One hybrid mid-year meeting each year. 

  • Mid-year meeting in March, date and time to be determined. 

  • Engagement: 

  • Represent, connect with, and engage the larger body of ASAE technology members. 

 

Council Projects: The Technology Professionals Advisory Council (TPAC) aligns its projects with ASAE's Destination 2026 Strategic Plan and the four strategic priorities. Here are some of the key projects: 

  • Providing technology insights and articles for Associations Now. 

  • Identifying and analyzing critical technology trends. 

  • Delivering presentations at ASAE Academy and major conferences. 

  • : Consistently moderating technology discussions within the Technology Professionals Community on Collaborate. 

  • Assisting, contributing and promoting Tech Tuesday monthly events focused on technical content and professional growth. 

  • Participating in projects to gather data and insights on various functional areas. 

 
Eligibilities: The Technology Professional Advisory Council (TPAC) seeks experienced and engaged ASAE members to provide expert guidance on technology matters. To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Active ASAE member in good standing 

  • 5+ years of IT experience in associations or related fields.  

  • Expertise in relevant technology areas and knowledge of current trends.  

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.  

  • Commitment to a one-year term.  

  • Adherence to ethical standards.  

  • Preferred: Leadership experience, industry involvement, and commitment to diversity.

Selection Process: The selection process for the Technology Professionals Advisory Council (TPAC) uses ASAE's volunteer framework to identify individuals who can provide strategic technological insights, including both technology experts and champions. The selection committee, comprising volunteer leaders and ASAE staff, ensures a balanced and impactful council through a comprehensive review process. 

  • Applications are evaluated for technical expertise, leadership experience, contributions to organizational technology strategy, and demonstrated technology advocacy. 

  • The selection committee considers candidates from direct technology roles and those who champion technology adoption and innovation. 

  • The committee focuses on building a council with diverse perspectives, encompassing deep technical knowledge and a broad understanding of technology's impact on associations. 

  • Priority is given to candidates who can effectively communicate, collaborate, and contribute to the council's strategic goals. 

  • ASAE staff provides procedural guidance and assists in identifying candidates who align with the council's and ASAE's strategic objectives.
