The Ethics Committee is responsible for maintaining the Standards of Conduct and educating members about the Standards of Conduct and related ethical issues. Ethics Committee Mission: The ASAE Ethics Committee exists to foster ethical thinking and behavior in ASAE members and their organizations. Ethics Committee Vision: The vision of the ASAE Ethics Committee is for all members of the association community to operate with the highest ethical standards. The primary areas of focus are a) elevating awareness of the ASAE standards of conduct; b) maintaining and updating the ASAE ethics toolkit as necessary; c) developing articles on ethics topics for ASAE publications; d) developing presentations on ethics topics for the ASAE Annual Meeting and other educational events; e) collecting and addressing everyday ethics scenarios faced by associations; f) partnering with other ASAE groups on panels, webinars, podcasts, and other opportunities for visibility; g) elevating awareness during National Ethics Awareness Month; h) serving on multiple review committees for ASAE learning events such as the Annual Meeting, MMC&T, etc.; and i) research on member interest and needs related to ethics.
Eligibility Requirements: 4 - 6 Years Industry Experience Meeting Requirements:
Virtual Orientation Meeting: July 2025, exact date TBD. Orientation meeting is mandatory for new volunteers.
Virtual Kick-off Meeting: July 2025
Optional in-person volunteer brunch and meeting at ASAE Annual Meeting Saturday, August 9, 2025 (this is not a required meeting).
A mid-year meeting will be held in Winter (February or March) 2026. Currently, this meeting is being planned as a hybrid meeting.
Full committee conference calls are scheduled monthly, and members are expected to prepare and participate.
Committee members should also expect to meet with subgroups virtually to complete work on an as-needed basis.
Selection Process:
The Ethics Committee is looking for 6 new members for the 2025-2026 term, which means not all applicants will be accepted for this committee. The selection committee is comprised of the incoming volunteer chair, the incoming volunteer vice chair, the outgoing volunteer chair, and the ASAE executive staff liaison. The ASAE staff liaison plays a supporting role in this process.

Additional Information:
New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s orientation and kickoff meeting.
Council members (or their organizations) pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings.
Members can only serve 1 (one) volunteer group (council or committee) at a time.
