Selection Process
Note that not all applicants will be selected for a council or committee. The selection group includes the incoming chair, volunteer vice chair, immediate past chair, and the ASAE staff liaison, who serves in a supporting role throughout the process. To assist in the review, your ASAE engagement report—summarizing your volunteer and event participation history—will be provided to the selection group.

Please note, the Conscious Inclusion Committee is a Board‑appointed body, the committee selection for the Conscious Inclusion Committee will be partnership between the ASAE Board chair elect, the ASAE Board Liaison, and the volunteer leaders. Final approval is from the ASAE Board chair elect.

In addition, applicants will be evaluated based on the quality and completeness of your interest statement, how well your skills align with the council/committee responsibilities and upcoming priorities, and how your experience complements or fills gaps within the group. Consideration is also given to maintaining a diverse and balanced group across organization type, geography, size, background, and experience level. Please note that only one representative per company may serve on a volunteer group.

As part of the volunteer application, please respond to the following questions:

  • Clearly explain how your experience, skills, and interests align with the responsibilities outlined in the group description above.
  • Why have you chosen this particular council or committee? What do you hope to gain from your participation, and what contributions do you believe you can make?

Diversity of Voice

With support of ASAE staff, the selection group utilizes theASAE Board Diversity Policy and Volunteer Modelto ensure the council/committee is composed of a variety of voices from the membership. To support this effort, all ASAE members can log into their main ASAE account and update their information in theirASAE Profileto ensure it is complete and up to date.
