Join the ASAE Technology Section Council for our Summer Roundtable Session to talk about the future of work. Our summer 2018 topic is inspired by two of the 41 Drivers of Change identified by ASAE ForesightWorks – “New Forms of Work” and “Work Redefined”. A 2017 study from the National Bureau of Economic Research showed that the share of workers engaged in “alternative work arrangements” (which includes everything from contracting to freelancing) rose from 10.7% to over 15% from 2005 to 2015. And that trend isn’t likely to slow down. The “gig economy” is here to stay and it’s only a matter of time until it disrupts an industry close to you.
Using the Drivers of Change as our springboard, during this roundtable conversation we will explore the effects that “freelance, gig, contract and temporary work” are bringing to all industries (ours and our members’) and discuss the changes in “employment and workplace systems, educational systems, and social safety net systems” that will be demanded by a changing workforce. Bring your innovative ideas, disruptive suggestions and first-hand accounts of the changes that are coming for all of us to this thought-provoking discussion.
The roundtable will be held Friday, July 27th, from 2 PM to 3:30 PM at the ASAE Headquarters (1575 I Street NW). Light refreshments will be served and we'll continue the conversation for interested parties at a happy hour nearby!
