Ask Me Anything: Recruiting, Engaging, and Managing International Volunteers from US based Associati

When:  Nov 10, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (ET)

Join us to ask questions and learn from peers as we delve into the topic of working with a global body of volunteers and the many aspects that need to be considered to be successful.

Ask Me Anythings are a chance for the audience to interact with a panel of subject matter experts to get the answers and insights needed on a topic. Hosted by ASAE Communities – International, Ethics, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and Component Relations Volunteer Management – the experienced panel can explore questions such as:

  • When recruiting global volunteers, how can you be proactive in attracting diverse populations? What DEI US-centric approaches don’t resonate or are simply not acceptable outside the US? What international privacy regulations need to be considered?
  • In developing more global volunteer teams, what training do volunteers need to ensure these teams are inclusive and equitable?
  • For associations based in the US but with an international mission and membership body, is there an ethical obligation for fostering strong volunteer regional leadership throughout the globe, particularly when the majority of membership is based in the US? What are the advantages of developing regional volunteer leadership? What are the challenges/potential disadvantages to be aware of?
  • What cultural differences could also be perceived as ethical violations and how do you coach volunteers through these conflicts? How do you recognize them as they begin to arise?

Most importantly they are available to answer your questions during this event!
