Cyber Security 2019: Navigating the Changing Privacy and Data Security Landscape (DC Idea Swap)

When:  Jan 24, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)
All associations need to protect their data against hackers, phishing attempts, unauthorized access or disclosures, inadvertent breaches of computer security, and misuse of personal data.

U.S. federal and state laws mandate actions to protect certain personally identifiable information. In Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that went into effect in May 2018 may affect U.S. organizations if they process data of individuals located in the EU. In Canada, Brazil, Japan and other countries, stricter privacy laws are in effect, or will take effect soon. Again, these laws may affect U.S. associations if they process data from foreign individuals.

In this session, Razvan Miutescu, technology and governance attorney with Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, will discuss how to handle the common privacy and data security issues facing associations.

About the Presenter

Razvan "Raz" Miutescu focuses his practice on privacy and data security, information technology transactions and licensing, intellectual property, and data management, including data broker transactions, cloud services, distributed ledgers/blockchain and related regulatory and compliance matters.
