Association Reserves, investment lessons learned and how to apply them

When:  Jun 17, 2020 from 13:00 to 14:00 (ET)
Please join the Finance and Business Operations Professionals Council

Global stocks sank as the spread of COVID-19 nearly closed the world economy.  At the same time, interest rates plummeted and bonds experienced significant volatility.  Both markets have since stabilized but uncertainty remains high.  In this session we’ll outline the critical lessons learned and discuss what actions associations should be considering now, such as: is it time to buy stocks, are bonds safe, should we rebalance, what sectors are the safest, and more.  We’ll also look at the critical role investment policies could have made in guiding decisions and bringing discipline when it was needed most.  We’ll review areas in which many investment policies fell short and we’ll share best practices from the peer benchmarking Study on Nonprofit Investing for Associations.

Learning Objectives:

Association leaders will obtain actionable guidance to make better informed decisions related to the management of the investment reserves.
