Employee Financial Hardship Support Beyond an EAP

  • 1.  Employee Financial Hardship Support Beyond an EAP

    Posted 9 hours ago

We're interested in learning how other small associations and nonprofits support employees facing serious, unexpected financial hardship. Examples might include a sudden loss of household income, an unexpected medical expense, a housing emergency, or a family crisis.

Support could include emergency grants, employee relief funds, payroll advances or loans, leave-sharing programs, or referrals to community resources.

We'd appreciate hearing about your organization's experience:

    • Do organizations offer any help beyond the EAP?
    • What does that help look like?
    • How do they decide who qualifies?
    • Are there caps, time limits, or annual limits?
    • How do they manage the budget if the funds run out?

We're gathering information about current practices and have not made a decision to establish a program. Experiences from other small associations would be especially helpful. Even a brief response, example, or resource would be appreciated-there's no need to address every question. Thank you!
