  • 1.  Oral Poster Sessions

    Posted Jun 28, 2024 11:54 AM

Our society currently has oral presentation and poster presentations of our abstracts, those with Oral get a 10 min talk and 5 min Q&A, and those with posters get 1 poster for 1 day at the conference and an ePoster available the full conference. We are looking at the possibility of implementing "oral poster" sessions or "Poster talk" sessions.

Does anyone currently or have done in the past something similar that can let me know logistics - how long were the talks, how many were given together, any Q&A time etc. and how you went about choosing which posters would get talks, and any other considerations.

An example of what I am talking about is here:

    Hi,

We have Poster Discussions – a leader, usually a postdoc, takes a group of students to about six posters within the regular poster session.  The presenter then gives a short presentation to the group, they ask questions and move on.

Another thing we do to highlight the best abstract not chosen for talks is to program them in a Nano-Talk session (five-minute, five-slides, one question).  This is done on the first day before the poster sessions and it gives these presenters (about 12 of them) the chance to give a brief oral presentation and pitch their poster.  This is a general session open to all attendees.

    Good luck with your planning.
