Description:

The International Associations Professionals Advisory Council (IAAC) supports association executives whose role in associations includes international activities and outreach. The role also includes support for the growing field of association management worldwide.


The Council’s primary objectives:
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to ASAE Provide member-led content, peer-to peer engagement opportunities and educational offerings to meet the needs of practitioners and organizations working globally. Identify global association professionals and help bring their expertise to ASAE.
  • Represent, connect with and engage the larger body of ASAE international members. 

Meeting Requirements:
This group will meet quarterly beginning with a meeting scheduled as the virtual Kickoff meeting in August aligned closely with the ASAE Annual Meeting, as well as an addition mid-year meeting. Subsequent meetings will be up to to the discretion of the leadership and council at large. We will host a virtual orientation for the council before the Kickoff meeting. Participation in this meeting is mandatory for new and returning council members.

Eligibility Requirements:
Experience in global development and operations Ability to advise ASAE on global needs and challenges.

Applications should answer the following questions:

  1. What experience do they have with associations operating globally or working with associations outside of the U.S.?
  2. Why do they want to serve and what expertise do they contribute?
Selection Process:

Not all applicants will be accepted for this committee. The selection committee is comprised of the incoming volunteer chair, the incoming volunteer vice chair, the outgoing volunteer chair, and the ASAE executive staff liaison. The ASAE staff liaison plays a supporting role in this process. The following factors are reviewed in the selection process:

  • New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s orientation in order to serve.
  • Council members (or their organizations) pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings. 


Diversity of Voice- With support of ASAE staff, the selection committee utilizes the ASAE Board Diversity Policy and Volunteer Model to ensure the group is comprised of a variety of voices from the membership.  To support this effort, all ASAE members can log into their main ASAE account and update their information in their ASAE Profile to ensure it is complete and up to date.

Disclaimer:

• New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s kickoff meeting in order to serve.
• ASAE does not reimburse Board, Committee, or Council members for travel.
• Members can only serve 1 (one) volunteer group (council or committee) at a time.
