Volunteer Opportunity Details

Marketing Section Council is a group of thought leaders in association marketing who are asked to provide insight, guidance and support to develop content that ensures ASAE disseminates products and services that exceed the expectations of association marketing professionals seeking to move their work, their organizations and the association community forward. The council provides a unique vantage point that allows them to assess their own needs as well as the needs of their association colleagues ensuring the ongoing strength and relevancy of the association community in an ever-changing environment.

The Council has two face to face meetings each year beginning with a mandatory kickoff meeting on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 9:00am at the office of ASAE, 1575 I Street NW, Washington, DC, which is in conjunction with the Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference. New volunteers are required to attend the kickoff meeting in Washington, DC in order to serve. There is no virtual option for this meeting. Additionally, the council holds monthly teleconference meetings.

Focus for FY18 include:

• Assist ASAE staff in the selection of topics and learning labs for the annual Marketing, Membership, and Communications Conference.
• Participate in the planning of ASAE’s activities by assisting in identifying areas of opportunity for ASAE in the future.
• Assist the Gold Circle Awards competition by promoting and serving as award judges.
• Suggest topics, authors, and submits articles on issues relevant in the marketing profession to be disseminated to ASAE’s membership.
• Each council member is expected to participate on a subcommittee or task force.
• Engage with association Marketing professionals of all levels.
• Connect with and involve Marketing Section members.

In principle and in practice, ASAE values and seeks diversity and inclusive practices within the association management industry.

ASAE promotes involvement, innovation, and expanded access to leadership opportunities that maximize engagement across identity groups and professional levels. Identity groups include and are not limited to age, appearance, disability, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, nationality, professional level, race, religion, and sexual orientation.

ASAE will provide leadership and commit time and resources to accomplish this objective while serving as a model to other associations engaged in D+I endeavors.
