Description:

Getting involved as an active member of the ASAE Communication Section Council is an opportunity to support communications professionals in the association industry by identifying key issues and effective practices, and by providing resources in areas such as communication strategy, content strategy, print and electronic publishing, online communication, public relations, and media relations.

Seeking Expertise In:
broad communication strategy as well as content/publishing expertise and experience.

Meeting Requirements:
1. Kick-Off Meeting- May 24, 2018, ASAE Headquarters, Washington DC (required for all new members)
2. Winter Meeting- January 2019, ASAE Headquarters, date TBD
3. Regularly scheduled conference calls throughout the term.

Current Focus of Work:

The council actively surfaces key communications issues and works on these and other initiatives:

  • Identify and report on communication challenges and trends and use this knowledge to inform programs and resources.

  • Engage with association communication professionals of all levels.

  • Connect with and involve Communication Section members.

  • Share industry knowledge and effective practices.

  • Disseminate information on communications professional disciplines.

  • Demonstrate association communications as a track for career advancement


Disclaimer:

  • New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s kickoff meeting in order to serve. There is no virtual option for this meeting.

  • Council members (or their organizations) pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings.   ASAE does not reimburse Board, Committee, or Council members for travel.

  • Members can only serve 1 (one) volunteer group (council or committee) at a time.
