Finance and Business Operations Section Council (also includes Human Resources) - Works to support ASAE’s professional interest section for association finance, business operations and human resource professionals by identifying pertinent areas of content related to financial, human resources, and administration/operations management issues. The group also creates content and works to foster a sense of community within the FBO Section. The group’s work includes brainstorming potential topics and authors for FBO/HR topics for electronic articles, virtual programs, peer networking; specialized professional development and two section discussion groups (FBO and HR) in Collaborate, ASAE’s online community.
Projects for FY 2019 *
- Identifying pertinent finance business and operations topic areas of focus for the 2019 AAW (Associations @ Work Conference)
- Work in conjunction with ASAE staff and other appropriate volunteer groups to be peer reviewers, Program Advisory Committee members and promote the conference.
- Identify potential content leaders from outside or inside the council to submit proposals for ASAE conferences that you feel need an FBO Component.
- Identify potential content leaders from outside or inside the council to present webinars on finance, business and operation topics to improve the effectiveness of the profession.
- Generate topic ideas, identify content leaders and create content for resources focused on assisting association finance, business and operation professionals including: articles for Associations Now and the FBO Section Collaborate Community
- Support ASAE’s initiatives with ad-hoc task forces as and when needed.
If selected to be a member of the Finance Business and Operations Section Council, you are encouraged to attend the Associations @ Work Conference – October 29th-30th

Meeting Requirements:
This group requires two in-person meetings each year, the first meeting (kick-off meeting) takes place on:
When: Friday, October 26, 2018
Where: ASAE Headquarters (1575 I St NW Washington, DC 20005)
(New appointees are required to attend the in-person kick-off meeting)
The second meeting will be held early Spring 2019 at the ASAE Headquarters.

- New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s kickoff meeting in order to serve. There is no virtual option for this meeting.
- Council members (or their organizations) pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings. ASAE does not reimburse Board, Committee, or Council members for travel.
- Members can only serve 1 (one) volunteer group (council or committee) at a time.
