Description:

Communication Section Council serves as a support to communications professionals in the association and non-profit industry by collecting and disseminating best practices, and providing resources in the areas of print and electronic publishing, online communication tools, public relations, media relations, and presentations. This group requires two face to face meetings each year with one of those meetings being held at the ASAE Headquarters in Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. The second is the winter meeting that will be held in January 2017.

Projects for include:

  • Identifying pertinent association communications topics and areas of focus for ASAE’s Marketing Membership & Communications Conference. And work with ASAE staff and other appropriate volunteer groups to select proposals for the conference.
  • Selection of topics and speakers for Virtual Lunches, a facilitated discussion held on topics to help Communication professionals be more successful in their jobs.
  • Submit proposals (or identify potential submitters from outside the council) to other ASAE conferences.
  • Generate topic ideas, identify content authors and create content for resources focused on assisting association communication professionals for Associations Now and e-newsletter articles.  
  • Coordinate members of the communication section and council to help ASAE analyze and categorize content using ASAE’s new online taxonomy.
  • Engage with ASAE members in the Communications Section, including responding to posts on the Communications Section discussion group in Collaborate
