Description:

Government Relations (GR) Section Council promotes excellence in association government relations, helping to develop content that improves the effectiveness of association GR professionals and associations’ GR activities.  The GR Section Council focuses on educational programming and publications that instruct and enlighten their fellow peers on a variety of issues pertaining to government relations and public policy. The GR Council requires two face to face meetings each year with one of those meetings scheduled at the ASAE Headquarters in Washington, DC. The first of these meetings is a mandatory kick off meeting at ASAE Headquarters in Washington, DC which is usually in conjunction with the Government Relations Annual Symposium. The second in-person meeting will be in spring 2018 prior to American Associations Day. There are a series of teleconferences held throughout the year for the council and its subcommittees.

FY17-18 Projects include:

  • Authoring articles on government relations related topics
  • Development and promotion of the Government Relations Symposium - a comprehensive government relations conference for GR professionals. Selection of topics, speakers and proposal submissions.
  • Submitting proposals (or identify potential submitters from outside the council) for other ASAE conferences such as Annual Meeting, Great Ideas, MMCC & FHRBOC.
  • Engage ASAE members in the Government Relations Section in conversations by posting and responding to comments on the Government Relations Section discussion group on Collaborate.
  • Develop content for ASAE’s Career Portal.
  • Collaborate with other ASAE volunteer groups to promote association GR activities.

Applications for this opportunity will be accepted until February 24th  or sufficient applications have been received. Note: When you sign up, please tell us why you're interested in joining the council by using the additional information box.
