2021 - 2022 Marketing Professionals Advisory Council This is a group of thought leaders in association marketing who are asked to provide insight, guidance, and support that ensures ASAE disseminates programs and services that exceed the expectations of association marketing professionals seeking to move their work, their organizations and the association community forward. Committee members are asked to participate in strategic conversations on marketing as a function area within associations and should be knowledgeable of the space and trends in order to help create content and learning opportunities for marketing professionals in ASAE’s membership.
Work of the Group:
- Assist ASAE staff in the selection of topics and learning labs for the annual Marketing, Membership, and Communications Conference as Peer Reviewers or serving on the program committee.
- Suggest topics, authors for articles on issues relevant in the marketing profession to be disseminated to ASAE’s membership.
- Engages ASAE members in the Marketing Community through a variety of in-person and online communication vehicles (e.g. ASAE Events, Member Meet-ups, Collaborate, etc.)
- Collaborates with other ASAE volunteer groups to promote association marketing.
- Assist the Gold Circle Awards competition by promoting and serving as award judges.
Meeting Requirements:
- The Council will begin with an Orientation meeting for new volunteers in July (Date to be determined). This will be held virtually.
- The Council will kick off its term in a virtual meeting in August after ASAE’s Annual Meeting. This meeting is required for new volunteers.
- The Council will hold its second meeting in the winter of 2022 as a hybrid or virtual meeting. Date of this meeting will be decided at the August meeting.
- All council members must contribute to the work of the subcommittees and be available to participate in monthly council virtual meetings.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Current position serving in a marketing role, overseeing marketing functions in an association, or consulting to associations on marketing initiatives.
- 4 or more years of professional marketing experience preferred, with a minimum of one year serving in a marketing role with or for an association.
- Broad marketing expertise or deep expertise in a specific marketing area that would serve as a foundation for surfacing useful content and engagement for members of the broader Marketing Community.
- Knowledge of marketing issues faced by associations and professionals working in associations.

Selection Process:
Not all applicants will be accepted for this council. The selection committee is comprised of the incoming volunteer chair, the incoming volunteer vice chair, the outgoing volunteer chair, and the ASAE executive staff liaison. The ASAE staff liaison plays a supporting role in this process. The following factors are reviewed in the selection process:

- New volunteers are required to attend the volunteer group’s orientation in order to serve.
- Council members (or their organizations) pay their own travel expenses to attend meetings.
Diversity of Voice- With support of ASAE staff, the selection committee utilizes the ASAE Board Diversity Policy and Volunteer Model to ensure the group is comprised of a variety of voices from the membership. To support this effort, all ASAE members can log into their main ASAE account and update their information in their ASAE Profile to ensure it is complete and up to date.
