Chapters and Affiliates: For the “Swing” in Your Member Experience

When:  Nov 12, 2019 from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM (ET)
Stop fighting with your chapters and start appreciating them!

Associations and their chapters or affiliates have the potential to be strong partners in offering maximum member value. But the friction that ensues from overlapping programs, complex business models, and stretched resources often gets in the way of fully realizing this potential. Instead, what if we envisioned chapters to be a concrete way to experience the association? Like brick and mortar stores are evolving — not as the point of sale — but as providers of an experience you can’t get online. For example, imagine you’re shopping for a baseball bat at DICK'S Sporting Goods. You can read a review or watch the videos on YouTube. But it’s only when you go into the store that you can actually use a bat and compare it to others in the HitTrax batting cage. Sensors measure your hit, visualize it on a computer screen, and let you compare the $400 DeMarini to the $100 Easton. Then you go back and order online.

Chapters — which are closer to the ground — could let members take a couple of swings with association services and decide on the best fit. Join an open discussion on how associations and chapters can support and strengthen one another to advance the shared mission and their bottom lines. Whether you work at the international, national, or local level, we want to hear from YOU. The discussion will be led by two chapter relations experts.
