The Ethicist and the Bereavement Counselor: How we prepare for death and deal with grief

When:  Mar 16, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)

Death is a topic most of us avoid discussing.  Some are brave enough to post on ASAE's Collaborate asking what to do when a member dies at an annual meeting or how to memorialize the passing of a colleague.

In this webinar, ASAE's Healthcare Community Committee (HCC) busts the death taboo open through bringing a webinar titled The Ethicist and the Bereavement Counselor: How we prepare for death and deal with grief.

Speakers
Nneka O. Sederstrom, PhD, MPH, MA, FCCP, FCCM, Director of the Clinical Ethics Department at Children's Minnesota, will discuss how we can prepare for our own death including how to talk to our loved ones; and how to create a living will that expresses our specific wishes.

Kevin Cross, D.Min., Heartland Hospice bereavement counselor and former Chaplain Resident at Wellspan York Hospital, in York, Pennsylvania, will discuss the wildly varying paths from grief to peace and explain that there is no single path to healing. Kevin also will discuss how we can move on beyond grief to live a "new normal."

Moderator
HCC Vice Chair, Sheri Singer, Singer Communications the national webinar features two well-respected leaders discussing different perspectives related to dying.
